Integrated tourist information system
dedicated to Infokiosks
Basic technical features of the system:
  1. The system is ready to publish information on Infokiosks (Web-kiosks) with touch screens (it features functions for navigation without a mouse).
  2. The system is supported by an efficient Internet server.
  3. The system is ready to support many language versions.
  4. The content (text, multimedia) presented by Infokiosks is managed via the Internet administration panel.
  5. Remote monitoring of the functioning of all Infokiosks in the system.
Components of the tourist information system:
  1. Unique system layout - developed in line with the corporate identity of an entity and the requirements for Infokiosks with touch screens.
  2. Multimedia presentation promoting tourist attractions f the region/town - an animation technique using a voice-over, background music, photographs, films - the objective of this presentation is to present major appealingly tourist attractions of the region/town in a few minutes' time.
  3. Tourist facility database with the following functionality:
    1. Facilities split into categories and subcategories (e.g. category: sport and leisure -> bicycle routes.
    2. Tourist facility search engine allowing the users to search tourist facilities by categories, subcategories, region, sub-region, location, phrase (a different search list for towns).
    3. Displaying facility information: name, description, contact data, photographs, film, panorama.
    4. Localisation of the facilities on the region/town interactive map.
    5. Content management via the administration panel.
  4. Region/town interactive map with the following functionality:
    1. Zooming out, zooming in, moving.
    2. Plotting bicycle, hiking and horse routes.
    3. Navigation panel with a window displaying the area shown on the map.
    4. Assigning icons to a category of facilities or single facilities.
    5. Facility localisation management via the management panel.
    6. Linking to facility information from the database.
  5. Calendar of events in the region/town - a calendar of current and future events split into categories with a possibility to add pictures and video clips and to localise the events on an interactive map. Calendar content management via the administration panel.
  6. "Plan your stay" guide - a presentation of tourist products of the region/town split into a one-day stay, weekend stay and one-week stay. The guide is to provide the users with a sample plan of a visit/excursion presented hour by hour, including meal breaks (with suggested bars, restaurants and dishes). The text is accompanied by pictures, video clips and panoramas; additionally localisation on the map. Management via the administration panel.
  7. Picture, video clip and panorama gallery - an easy-to-browse collection of multimedia split into categories. Management via the administration panel.
  8. View from webcams - view form webcams located in the region/town.
  9. Base of allowed links to websites - a possibility to view selected websites of tourist facilities, offices, institutions, associations, news bulletins, etc. which are available to the Infokiosk user.
Additional information:
  1. The customer provides a base map, images and texts necessary to develop the system design (a list of necessary materials will be provided).
  2. Lead time: 3 months.
